# Captions Desktop (Legacy)

> Documentation for the legacy Captions web app at desktop.captions.ai — a timeline-based editor with a dark interface.

## Overview

The legacy Captions app lives at **desktop.captions.ai**. It features a dark interface with a timeline-based editor, and does not use a credits system. It supports a different set of features from the current Captions web app.

## Sign In

Go to [desktop.captions.ai](https://desktop.captions.ai) and sign in using the same method you used to create your account.

  Projects are stored locally on the device and browser you used to create them. They are not synced across devices.

## Features

The legacy app supports the following capabilities:

## Granting Camera & Microphone Permissions

To use features like [AI Twin](/help/docs/project/ai-twin), you'll need to allow camera and microphone access in your browser.

**Chrome**

1. Click on the settings icon to the left of `desktop.captions.ai` in the address bar
2. Toggle on **Camera** & **Microphone**

1. Open **Settings**
2. Click **Websites**
3. Enable **Camera** & **Microphone**

1. Click on the settings icon to the left of `desktop.captions.ai` in the address bar
2. Toggle on **Camera** & **Microphone**
