# Restore Your Subscription

> Learn how to restore your Captions subscription when switching to a new device.

To restore your subscription on a new device, sign in using the same login method you used when you originally purchased. Instructions vary depending on where you purchased.

    Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID, not your Captions login method.

    1. Make sure the new device is signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase
    2. Open Captions and tap **Restore Subscription** or **Already Basic** in the top right

    Your subscription is tied to your Google account.

    1. Sign into the same Google account on your Android device
    2. Open Captions and sign in with any login method — your subscription will be automatically restored

    Your subscription is tied to the login method you used at sign-up (Google, Apple, Email, or Phone Number).

    1. Open Captions on your new device
    2. Sign in with the exact same login method you used when you originally purchased

  Not sure which login method you used? Go to **Profile** in the Captions app — it shows your current login method. You can also check your email for a purchase receipt from Apple, Google, or Stripe to identify which platform you purchased on.

  Projects do not transfer between devices — only your subscription is restored. Make sure to [export](/help/docs/settings/export) any projects you want to keep before switching devices.
