# Dub Your Video into Another Language

> Use AI dubbing to translate your video into a new language with a matching AI voice and reach global audiences without re-recording.

AI Dubbing replaces your original audio with an AI-generated voice in the target language, synced to your video. The result is a fully dubbed version of your content (same visuals, new language) ready to publish to a new audience.

## When to use dubbing vs. subtitles

* **Dubbing** replaces the audio track with a translated AI voice. Best for audiences who prefer to hear content in their native language, or when you want the video to feel native rather than subtitled.
* **Subtitles** keep your original audio and add translated text. Best for audiences who are comfortable with your original language, or when you want to preserve the authentic voice.

Many creators do both: dub for major target markets, subtitle for secondary ones.

## The dubbing workflow

  <Step title="Import your video">
    Open Captions and import the video you want to dub, or record a new one using the [Camera & Teleprompter](/help/docs/project/camera). For best dubbing quality, use a video with clean, clear audio and a single speaker.

  <Step title="Select the original language">
    After importing, choose the language being spoken in your video. This tells Captions what it's transcribing and translating from.

  <Step title="Select the target language">
    Choose the language you want to dub into. Captions supports 30+ dubbing languages including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and more.

  <Step title="Tap AI Dubbing and apply">
    Tap **AI Dubbing**, then **Apply**. Captions transcribes your audio, translates it, and generates a new voice track in the target language, synced to your original video.

  <Step title="Review the dubbed output">
    Watch the full video. Pay attention to:

    * **Accuracy:** is the translation capturing the meaning, or just the literal words?
    * **Timing:** does the dubbed audio feel synced, or are there awkward gaps?
    * **Tone:** does the AI voice match the energy of your original delivery?

  <Step title="Edit if needed">
    To fix a translation error:

    1. Tap the caption segment you want to edit
    2. Tap **Edit**
    3. Correct the text and tap **Apply**

    To adjust the volume of the dubbed audio:

    1. Tap the segment
    2. Tap **Volume**
    3. Adjust as needed

    Tap **Export**. Your dubbed video is ready to post. The original-language version and the dubbed version are separate exports, so keep both.

## Tips for better dubbing results

* **Clean source audio matters most.** Background noise, music under the dialogue, and multiple speakers all degrade translation and dubbing quality. Run [Denoise](/help/docs/audio/denoise) on your source audio before dubbing if needed.
* **Keep sentences short and direct.** Long, complex sentences often translate awkwardly. Content that was written to be spoken (not read) dubs more naturally.
* **Dub to your biggest opportunity language first.** If 30% of your potential audience speaks Spanish, start there. Don't spread time across every language at once.
* **Test with native speakers before publishing at scale.** AI translation is strong but not perfect. For important content, have a native speaker review the dubbed version.
