# Choosing a Template Style

> Pick a caption template when you create a Captions project, or switch templates from the editor.

A caption template is the look of the words: font, color, motion, and emphasis. It is separate from an edit style, which restyles the whole video.

## While you create the project

On Home, set the project type to **Captions**. Template cards appear after you import the video. Select one, then **Create my video**.

Templates you can start from include Million, Cove, Energy, M81, Arion Pink, Quintessence, Bellatrix, Prism, Freshly, Thuban, Mars, Runway, Grace, Copernicus, Aldebaran, Nova, Alycone Blue, Travel, Andromeda, and Cassiopeia.

## Inside a project

1. Open the project.
2. Select **Settings** on the tool rail, then **Captions style**.
3. Turn **Show captions** on.
4. Filter by All, Custom, Featured, Viral, Chaotic, Attention, Active, Hype, Simple, or Retro, or search by name.
5. Select a template. Each card has **Edit** if you want to change that template. See [Customizing a template](https://captions.ai/help/web/captions/customizing-a-template.md).

Featured templates include Cove, Minima, Million, Flair, Dimidium, Garnet, Drive, Energy, Helios, Freshly, Magazine, Eclipse, Hustle, Medusa, Script, and others in that row.

The template you select becomes the project caption style. Existing phrases update to that look. Word-level color and timing you already set stay available in the phrase and word panels.
