# Moving from iOS to Web

> See how recording and editing on iPhone maps to projects, chat, and the timeline on Captions for Web.

The iPhone app and Captions for Web share the same account. Web is where you compose a project from Home, then finish it in an editor with a timeline, layers, and chat.

If you are coming from the desktop app, see [Moving from Desktop to Web](https://captions.ai/help/moving-from-desktop-to-web.md). For the iPhone app itself, see [iOS](https://captions.ai/help/docs/app/ios.md).

## What stays familiar

| On iPhone | On Web |
| - | - |
| Import or record, then generate captions | Home → **Captions**, then import the video and pick a template. See [Adding captions](https://captions.ai/help/web/captions/adding-captions.md). |
| Edit caption text | Click a phrase or word on the timeline. See [Editing captions](https://captions.ai/help/web/captions/editing-captions.md). |
| AI edits and styles | Home → **Edit**, then a prompt and an edit style. See [AI Edit](https://captions.ai/help/web/start-with-your-footage/ai-edit.md). |
| Avatars and voice | Home → **Avatar** or **Voiceover**, or the Avatars library. |
| Export | **Download** in the editor. See [Exporting your video](https://captions.ai/help/web/export/exporting.md). |

## What you do on Web

Web projects are created from the Home composer, then opened in the editor.

* The left sidebar lists projects, folders, Avatars, Library, and My Edit Styles.
* Chat can restyle, cut, caption, and generate media inside a project. Pick a model next to the message field. See [AI chat](https://captions.ai/help/web/ai-chat.md).
* The tool rail adds media, music, voiceover, sound, text, shapes, effect layers, color scopes, and project settings.
* Caption templates and edit styles are separate. A caption template controls how words look. An edit style is the treatment for the whole video.

Record on iPhone when you want the camera, then open the project on Web when you want the timeline, chat, and export options side by side.
