# Aspect Ratio

> Set the project frame to a preset ratio or a custom size.

Aspect ratio is a project setting. It changes the frame for the whole timeline.

**1. Open Settings**

In the editor, select **Settings** on the tool rail.

**2. Choose a ratio**

Select **Aspect ratio**.

| Ratio | Typical use |
| - | - |
| 9:16 | Vertical, stories and shorts |
| 16:9 | Widescreen |
| 1:1 | Square |
| 3:4 | Portrait |
| 5:4 | Portrait |
| Custom | A width and height you set |

The current ratio is highlighted. Choosing another ratio reframes the project. Check captions and titles after you switch, and use [Color scopes](https://captions.ai/help/web/timeline/color.md) after a crop if you want to confirm the frame.
