1. Install Tesseract

Use macOS or 64-bit Windows with an agent that can access local files and run commands. Tesseract edits and renders on your computer.

For other compatible agents, install the skills from GitHub. Run this in your terminal, then choose both Tesseract skills and your agent:

npx skills add mirage-hq/Tesseract

This installer requires Node.js/npm. You can also ask your agent to install them:

Install the Tesseract skills from https://github.com/mirage-hq/Tesseract. Follow their installation guide to install the matching CLI for my computer, verify its checksum, and confirm it runs.

Choose one setup method. The plugin and skills provide the same instructions; your agent uses them to set up the local rendering tool when needed.

Installation help

Manual setup: see releases and the installation guide.
Command not found: installing the plugin or skills alone does not install the CLI. Ask your agent to finish setup using the installation guide.
Version mismatch: use the CLI version required by your installed skills.
Checksum mismatch: download the ZIP and checksum again from the same release. Do not install an archive that fails verification.
Security warning: follow your organization’s approval process. Do not disable Gatekeeper or SmartScreen.
Linux, WSL, or cloud session: switch to a supported local Mac or Windows computer.

To check the installed CLI version:

2. Create your first video

Open a conversation with Tesseract available, then try one of these prompts. Your agent handles the project commands.

Animate a title
Edit your footage

No footage needed. Copy this prompt:

Use Tesseract to create a five-second landscape title animation that says “Hello, Tesseract.” Use white text on a black background. Animate the words in, hold the title, then fade out. Show me a preview.

Attach your clips or give your agent their local file paths, then paste:

Use Tesseract to edit these clips into a 30-second vertical video. Keep the speaker's wording intact, trim long pauses, and add a short opening title. Show me a preview before exporting.

3. Review and revise

Watch the preview, then describe what should change:

Make the opening title arrive earlier and soften its motion. Keep everything else the same. Show me another preview.

4. Export and keep editing

When you’re happy with the preview:

Export the finished video as an MP4 and give me the editable .tsrct project too. Check the video's duration, dimensions, and audio.

Share the MP4. Keep the .tsrct project. It includes your media and fonts. To make changes later, give the project to your agent and describe the next revision. Technical documentation on GitHub →
