With 75+ caption styles available, the choice can feel overwhelming. This guide cuts through it by matching styles to content types, so instead of browsing blindly, you start with a shortlist that fits your format and audience.

Style recommendations by content type

Talking head / educational content

Your audience is here for information. Prioritize readability over flair: clean fonts, minimal animation, and short phrase display so viewers can follow along without cognitive overload. Try: Clarity, Core, Byline

Motivational / self-help / inspirational

Energy is the product. Bold text, color-popping active word highlights, and large type reinforce the feeling of momentum. Word-by-word display keeps the pace punchy. Try: Rocket, Grit, Kai

Entertainment / TikTok-native content

Fast, expressive, and visually alive. Single-word or very short phrase display matches the quick cutting rhythm of native TikTok content. Animation adds to the energy without distracting from it. Try: Film, Prism

Professional / business / LinkedIn

Subtle signals credibility. Clean, minimal styles with little or no animation read as polished and intentional. Stick to your brand color for a professional finish. Try: Byline, Sonnet, Blueprint

Beauty / fashion / lifestyle

Aesthetic and elegant. Script-adjacent fonts or refined sans-serif styles complement the visual quality of lifestyle content without competing with it. Try: Sonnet, Analog

Ads and marketing

High contrast, short phrases, and high readability even at a glance. Your CTA needs to land clearly, so don’t let a busy caption style compete with your offer. Try: Rocket, Grit

Steps

1

Open the Style panel

In the editor, tap the Style icon in the captions toolbar. The Styles panel opens with all available templates visible.
2

Browse and preview

Tap any style thumbnail to preview it live on your video. The preview plays in real time so you can see exactly how the animation, font, and active word highlight look with your actual footage.Start with the styles recommended for your content type above, then explore nearby options if you want to compare.
Don’t judge a style from the thumbnail alone. The animation only plays in the live preview, and some styles that look plain as a still image are very dynamic when playing.
3

Customize the color to match your brand

Once you’ve picked a style, tap Color to set your text color, active word highlight color, and background fill color. Use your brand’s primary color for the highlight. It creates visual consistency across every video you post. Most styles look quite different with a custom color scheme applied. Try your brand color before switching to a different style entirely.
4

Save as a custom template

After customizing, tap Save Style (or the bookmark/save icon) to save your current settings as a template. Give it a name you’ll recognize, like “My TikTok Style” or “LinkedIn Standard”.The next time you open a new project, your saved style will be available at the top of the Styles panel. You won’t have to reconfigure colors and settings from scratch.
Creating one saved style per platform you post to is the most efficient setup. You can switch between them in a single tap.

Tips

  • Use the same style consistently across your videos. Viewers start to recognize it as part of your visual brand, which builds familiarity and trust over time
  • Don’t pick a style in isolation. Preview it while watching the actual footage you’ll be posting, since lighting and background affect how the same style looks
  • When in doubt, choose the cleaner option: a simple readable style will never hurt you, but a busy distracting style might
  • If you use AI Edit, it applies a style automatically as part of the edit. You can always change it afterward in the Styles panel
